Careers Services
Career Education seeks to assist students to develop into responsible lifelong learners and decision makers through acquiring competency in:
- Personal skill management
- Learning and work exploration
- Career building
This will enable students to make considered choices and plan options in relation to anticipated or desired career pathways.
Career decision making is facilitated by student participation in a range of the following activities offered at RSC:
- Career Education lessons in Term 4, Year 9 through to Term 3, Year 10.
- Work experience Programs for Years 9 to 12, on a block or individual release basis.
- TVET (TAFE Vocational Education & Training) courses as part of the senior program of study in the Preliminary (Year 11) or HSC (Year 12) year.
- Australian Tax Office tax file number scheme for current students for paid employment.
- TAFE Carelinks and Outreach courses for students in Years 9 or 10, who are unlikely to complete Year 12.
- School to Work Program to allow a smoother transition to entry-level employment or post-school training.
- Career Expos and markets for senior students.
- Notification of community career-based activities in the weekly newsletter and monthly College News.
- Visiting speaker presentations.
- INFORMATION DAYS
- Information days are held by TAFEs, universities, or private providers, to develop general or specific career awareness.
- ADDITIONAL CAREERS SUPPORT
- Vocational assessment and career profiling, to match individual interests/abilities to career inventories.
- Career counsellIng interviews for students and/or parents/carers.
- Ex-RSC students as mentors for career/course exploration.
- Information on resumes, applications and job interviews.
- Career Education operates across the College curriculum, including the School to Work Program
- Career Adviser key member of the Learning Support Team and Student Welfare Committee.
